What we did in 2021

And so, just like that, the year is over, and it was another one to be incredibly proud of. Awards, promotions, new clients and new starters – there has been much to celebrate amid the challenges of the pandemic. Here are just some of our highlights as we reflect and look forward to 2022.

January

Amidst another lockdown we were celebrating the success of ten stonking pieces of national consumer Veganuary coverage for our plant-based client Naked Glory (which changed its name later in the year to Taste & Glory), and kicked off our social media campaign for fellow vegan brand Pure. Tasty!

February

We were still locked down but that didn’t stop us spoiling our founder Kate as she marked a big birthday. Elsewhere we were busy prepping some famous faces for campaigns, with iconic TV presenter and interior design star Linda Barker on the radio talking about HIPPOBAGS, and campaigner Jack Monroe delivering a live chicken & pineapple recipe demonstration on Instagram for Del Monte®.

March

Our social media team were busy bees in March creating lots of content and delivering impactful influencer partnerships, like this hysterical ‘ice-bobbing’ challenge with Dan & Lucy for Ice Breaker Pale Ale. Account Director Becky Whiting joined the team and we revealed our revamped website for frozen food client Fieldfare.

April

We went big on April Fool’s Day this year, delivering social gags for three of our clients, which all performed brilliantly. We landed a feature on BBC Look East for Affinity Water and were pleased to see our paid and organic social strategy for Pure free from spreads pay off as its social channels continued to grow.

May

After a whirlwind few months prep, we launched Affinity Water’s landmark SOS: Save Our Streams campaign with the Stand-up for Our Streams event, and helped send a 10,000-litre bath on a regional experiential tour. We were also thrilled to welcome back from maternity leave our Head of Renewables, Sophie Fraser.

June

New starter Olivia Reilly joins and her feet don’t hit the ground! We bagged an incredible piece in City AM for renewables client Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult, and a feature in the Observer for Affinity Water. Elsewhere the team kicked off an integrated campaign to support our client Treatt with recruitment needs for their Florida office.

July

Coverage for ORE Catapult continued to fly and we landed a story in Bloomberg – a great result for the booming renewables team, headed up by Sophie, who also marked an incredible ten years at Pier this month. We wrapped up our garden transformation influencer campaign for HIPPOBAGS with some strong content.

August

We had an influx of new clients in August, including change management consultancy Quo Change and world foods supplier, Surya Foods. For ScottishPower Renewables we supported Cabinet Office filming of an apprentice ahead of COP26 and submitted award entries for ScottishPower Energy Networks. There was big changes in the team as Amy moved to MD, Senior Account Manager Caroline Tilley joined the team and Abbie made a welcome return from maternity leave.

September

It’s baking season and our foodie team were in full swing, securing coverage for Homepride’s new range of baking spreads. Influencer partnerships and PR supported the launch of new frozen ready meal range Mansby Street Kitchen, and we welcomed another exciting new renewables client – the Five Estuaries Offshore Wind Farm.

October

We moved into our new office! Huge kudos to our Operations Manager Lisa who oversaw all the logistics for this seamlessly. The renewables team celebrated a fantastic Silver at the CIPR PRide Awards for our strategic communications and stakeholder relations for ScottishPower Renewables East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm.

November

Dino fever took over in November as we supported Del Monte® with its Jurassic World partnership, gifting family-focused influencers and securing multiple pieces of trade coverage. We promoted Abbie, Eileanor and Lisa, and supported Richmond sausages with new on-pack photography.

December

It was a lovely few months but we said goodbye to the office again for back to home working in the run-up to Christmas. We were busy supporting the East of England Co-op with regional PR for lots of feel-good Christmas community work and the Christmas coverage started rolling in for our food clients.

Thank you to all our incredible clients, suppliers and friends for another fantastic year. The Pier office will be back on 4th January 2022 and we can’t wait to see you then.
